About Sharon

Sharon currently resides and works in Taranaki since returning from London in 2013.
Counselling experience
Sharon has worked within the UK NHS and the NZ health service for over 25 years in a variety of mental health settings. Since 2013, she has been working as a mental health professional for an NGO, counselling and supporting clients with a range of issues including complex trauma. She also provides private counselling locally to a range of organisations. Sharon has also facilitated groups focusing on managing change within organisations.
Insurance experience
Sharon spent four years working in a reinsurance clinical team as a Mental Health Clinical Specialist and then for 3 years, worked privately in the UK, consulting to insurance companies, providing clinical opinions on a wide range of L&H insurance claims. She has advised on individual and group income protection, waiver of premium, mortgage protection, critical illness and total and permanent disability claims across the spectrum of definitions of disability.
Sharon successfully completed her Masters of Arts in Consultancy and the Organisation, carrying out a project and writing her dissertation on how the insurance industry manages mental health claims in the UK.
Sharon lives in rural Taranaki with her family, horses and other animals.
Sharon is of Nga Rauru and Ngai Tahu descent.
